The Andaman Islands are a group of islands in the Bay of Bengal that belong to India. These about 300 islands are known for their mangrove swamps, white sand beaches lined with palm trees, and tropical rainforests. Coral reefs with ray populations are well-liked diving and snorkelling spots. On the lonely Barren Island, some 135 kilometres from Port Blair, is the only known active volcano in Asia.
